TRA plugs Ashli's book, gets trashed by the "rational"

Beyond Expectations

As I said on RA's blog:

"I am glad Ashli is tryng to help women who suffer from her condition, but I lost much of my personal respect for her a while back, when I wote on an abortion forum that I would probably terminate if I ever got pregnant again, because I don't want to go through another pregnancy and c-section. She dismissed that, compared it to her sufferings, and told me to "try real pain!" So only people who almost die from HG are entitled to complain about difficult pregnancies -- the rest of us should stop just whining, right? Sorry, I will never agree."

You can disagree with Ashli personally without trashing the book and/or RA's enthusiasm therefore.

I should have added, "Which you are doing." You are supportive of the effort to help women with HG.

Yes -- the helping part is good. In fact, it's GREAT. And as you said on RA's site, Ashli's choice was not respected in her first pregnancy: she wanted to choose to carry to term, but was unable to do so because she didn't get proper medical (and psychological) care.

However, her "suffering one-up-man-ship" turned me off. She wasn't even commenting on a post about HG -- it was on a pro-choice site a while back. I wouldn't ever claim that I went through anything like what Ashli went through, but I resent it when another person dismisses the experience of pregnancy, c-section and PPD in my particular body! There is a reason I am doing whatever I can to avoid another pregnancy, and my reason is good enough for me.

You'll get nothing but support from me on the avoiding another pregnancy! Pregnancy avoidance takes many forms, and to each his/her own.

Can L post a link to the offending post? Because I don't remember saying that. I would really like to see the post so that I can apologize properly. If I said something like that, L is absolutely correct about the one-upmanship. That sort of thing is TOTALLY inappropriate.
